Even at home, you can keep in touch face-to-face with colleagues or customers.  You can now create your own video conferencing facility from the comfort of your home office using inexpensive webcams. And it couldn’t be easier …

The idea is simple. A webcam sitting on your computer records your movements and speech just like a video camera, then sends the moving images and sound in real time to the other person. The webcam on the other end does the same thing so both parties view moving images of one another on screen as they talk.
The Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology has the potential to overcome some of the limitations of email and telephone communication. For example, you can hold conferences from home, or one-to-ones with your boss, clients, or co-workers.

Webcams add reality to conversations and meetings and make it easier to describe something which would be impossible using email.
To add video conferencing to your PC, you’ll need a webcam (typically costing around £20), webcam software and website space.
